Day 1 of gratitude, grace and fear

Trying to only be solution-minded is easy or should I say hard, because right there in front of you is the problem.

the itch

the thorn

surely the easy thing to do is just pluck it out

But one of the things I learnt this year is to Stop, Judge, and then Act.

Actually, I think it was...

See!

Judge!

Act!

Lol, I remeber rolling my eyes when I first heard the notion. I thought it was absolutely silly.

I was raised to problem solve; you are useful when you are a problem solver

it makes sense at work too

in all the roles I find myself in, that is the main thing to do

solve the problem

be useful

be valuable

if you aren't, no one will want you

Crazy but true

subliminal?

I don't think so

so here she is, chasing her own tail, trying to do the best

be the best

have the best

show the best

know the best

even when there is no 'best'

How can there be no 'best'?

you see, there are times in life when you are not in competition with anyone

and all you have to do is be you

lol, I hear it too

'be your best self'

what does that even mean?

in comparison to what?

my good self?

my bad self

my lazy self?

awww... my lazy self

Gosh!

hand to heart

she is my favourite self

she loves to do nothing

absolutely nothing

nothing all the day long

all month long, all week long

lol

Where were we

Ah!

yes, Day 1 of gratitude, grace and fear

As the year rolls out

I want to say well done, not because you gave your best, but just because.

I am grateful to you, Abba for keeping my mind this year

You graced me with amazing people

hmm... a fear I would like to let go of?

'The fear of not being the best'

Hmm, I am not quite sure how to let this fear go, but I want to leave you something

so let's lean on grace instead

2 Cor 12:7-10 says Your grace Abba is enough for me

Your grace is enough to fill the emptiness that I so desperately try to pour man's praise and accolades into.

The AMPC version of 2 Cor 12:7-10 describes grace as God's lovingkindness, mercy and favour.

So lean on that,

learn to lean on that

Stop! and lean on that

If you do believe Jesus is your Lord and Saviour, He already did all the heavy lifting so lean on Him.

Cast your worries on Him

The need to perform

The need to be the best

The need to execute

Emphasis His Word as you pull down the nagging narrative that says you have not done enough or that you are not enough

Sometimes that is true. In some situations, more is definitely needed

More effort

more focus

more time

more attention

So even in the need for 'More' lean on Him

Do everything with Him

even the things that you think do not require Him

Find yourself in Him again

until you remember that you are His handiwork

So when the nagging thought attempts to devalue you

lean on Him

there is Grace for you

grace upon grace

Thank you for your grace Abba

Thank you for being more than enough

I drop this in your hands.

I have completely messed it up

But in You,I lean

I worsened it while trying to fix it and cover up my mess.

But here I am, running to you for safety like a toddler runs to a parent.

But because I am an adult, the guilt, shame anxiety and fear seemed to have outrun me.

I think they are heading towards you to complain and accuse me justly.

Safe to say there is no point in me continuing this race

Ha! It's best to give up now and turn back around

like a lost sheep

But no!

I choose to lean on You

to run towards You

because where cometh my help but from you

A child can always run back to a good father

so here i am

lol

Thank you for your grace
